LOVING HANDS MAKE BABY BLANKETS If you can knit or crochet a simple pattern, you can warm a newborn's body and a mother's soul by creating a handmade blanket. NCJW Sacramento Section, needs your loving hands to meet our goal of donating 18 blankets a month to UCD Medical Center and Sutter Hospital. The need is huge. Finished baby blankets should be a minimum of 22" by 22", and may be as large as crib size, 30" by 36". Any size in between will be welcomed as well. It is best to use baby weight or sport weight yarn; light weight yarn and light colors are preferable for the smaller size blankets. For patterns and more information, please contact Barbara Kletzman or Sandi Falk. We need as many knitters and crocheters as possible to meet our monthly goal, so please ask your friends and family to participate to help make this project a success. We would also appreciate donations of extra yarn or needles to make this project accessible to everybody. Thank you. SACRAMENTO NORTH AREA CRISIS NURSERY The Sacramento Crisis Nursery helps prevent child abuse and neglect by supporting families during times of stress, providing respite care for children from birth through age five. The Sacramento Section has chosen to support the work of the Crisis Nursery by collecting donations, all of which will be given to the Nursery. They can use these funds to purchase supplies, toys or food for the residence. Support of the Crisis Nursery is one more way we can fulfill the NCJW mission to help women, children, and families. Being a parent is a difficult job and every parent needs help at times. Some parents don't have any support in times of need. The Sacramento Crisis Nursery provides an alternative place to leave their child, in a safe and loving home-like environment as they resolve their problems. In addition, Crisis Nursery staff offer counseling and support services to strengthen the family and referrals to other community resources. These services are offered at no cost and are completely confidential. If you are interested in helping with this project, please e-mail Carole Jacoby.
